![]() ![]() According to Bob Kirk, Senior Director/Future Footwear Innovation at Adidas, this high midsole drop compliments the lattice structure the most and enables runners to move faster and smoother. And in all fairness, the actual running platform is in an angle: the Adidas 4dFWD has a 11.3 mm (!) midsole drop, 21.2 mm under the forefoot and 32.5 mm under the heel. The new midsole is constructed from bowtie-shaped FWD cells that redirects impact force and creates forward motion.īasically, as the lattice is compressed, as opposed to bouncing back up, it moved forward diagonally, like if you landed on a surface that's in an angle. ![]() This lattice construction is made of 39% bio-based material and said to offer 23% more cushioning as well as generating three times as much forward motion when compared to previous generations of 4D midolses. The 4DFWD is the next chapter in Adidas' saga to create a responsive midsole out of thin air, literally: the Digital Light Synthesis manufacturing technology pioneered by Carbon uses digital light projection, oxygen permeable optics, and Carbon’s programmable liquid resins to create a functional midsole. You can currently find them at a discounted price of 159'96 € at their official website.(Image credit: Future) Adidas 4DFWD review: the tech So, in summary, they are ideal for daily training, jogging and short to medium distance runs. And let's face it, there are a lot of those out there right now. ![]() You won't see many top runners win marathons in the Adidas 4D Run 1.0, but these might work well for people who like top-brand shoes and don't run for performance purposes. The laces are also a bit long, and unless they're tucked away somewhere, they move around a lot while you're running. I would recommend ordering a half size up as the Adidas 4D Run 1.0 is a little tight, even though the Primeknit upper and padded heel feel cozy and comfortable. ![]() Secondly, the sole is quite heavy and does not offer the best performance (yet). The 3D printed sole is created using a unique technology that uses only light/oxygen and when you think of it that way, you'll be amazed at how well the Adidas 4D Run 1.0 performs. These slippers they are for training and casual racing, not to break a record or when you're training hard to improve your VO2 max. We're used to recommending high-tech running shoes for performance runs, but that's not the case with the Adidas 4D Run 1.0. A pale green sole color, orange accents, white laces, and a gray patched upper create a unique look that's almost as distinct as the neon colors of the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%. The Alphaedge model has a Cloud White/Core Black/Signal Coral colorway and it definitely looks quirkier than some of the other colorways. In true Adidas fashion, there are a million colors you can choose from and new varieties of limited edition. The Adidas 4D Run 1.0 has many similar features to today's running shoes, and like the Adidas UltraBoost, these shoes can also be worn as everyday sneakers. The last thing to mention is the length of the laces which feel longer than necessary, but this can be easily fixed. Compare it to the 238 grams of Endorphin Pro.Įl 10mm drop makes the Adidas 4D Run 1.0 more accessible to beginning runners who might feel less tired running in these shoes. The Adidas 4D Run 1.0 also it is heavy, It weighs just under 400 grams (395 grams). The 3D sole is slightly curved but not as aggressive as other distance running shoes like the Saucony Endorphin Pro or the ASICS Metaracer. Or, you can go to a local athletic store and have your feet measured. It is worth mentioning that the Adidas 4D Run 1.0 it's pretty tight, so I would recommend going up a half size when you order them online. The Primeknit upper follows the shape of the foot well and even the reinforced parts are not too stiff, so will keep the fabric away from the body, creating an unnecessary hollow area. Your heels feel secure and locked in, but don't restrict movement, which is probably the best combination of feel in a running shoe. The padding around the heel and the thick collar stand out. ![]()
